On-The-Ground in Burma: Issue #12

This is the US Campaign for Burma’s twelfth monthly On-The-Ground in Burma briefer! Burma is now one year into the military coup. This month’s briefer will review the deteriorating on-the-ground situation in various areas of the country, as well as share a one year reflection from a former Karenni refugee.

This month’s briefer includes:

  • January highlights
  • An in-depth analysis one year after the coup
  • Four major policy recommendations
  • A one year reflection piece by Ti Reh
  • An overview of IDP issues and rights abuses in each ethnic state and central Burma

As the conflict escalates in Burma between the pro-junta militias, anti-coup forces, and the military, so has the violence and rights deprivations in ethnic regions and central Burma. Now one year after the February 1st coup, the junta is unrelenting in its brutal campaign on the people of Burma.
